The Evolution of the Batman Logo, infographic

Those of use who might be (or might not be) looking forward to Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the next Batman, it might be a good time to look back on the past 75 years to see exactly how the Dark Knight has been portrayed … at least in logo form.

From FastCoDesign: Designed by Cathryn Laver from Calm the Ham, the graphic traces the evolution of the Batman logo from its earliest iterations in the comics of the 1940s through its use in Adam West’s delightfully campy TV take in the ’60s, Frank Miller’s dark graphic novels in the ’80s, and George Clooney and his nipple suit in the ’90s, and ends with the multimillion-dollar Dark Knight films today. The genus is always quite clearly bat, but unique species abound.

The Colors of Good and Evil in Comic Books

Mixing two of my favorite things, comic books and color theory, this infographic is simply amazing and I had to share. The content comes courtesy of ColourLovers.com, a site I visit frequently.

According to ColourLovers: “Since the first comic was printed in 1933, many colorful stories have been told… and don’t let the name distract you, not all of them are funny. Comics have had moving, adventurous, dark & serious stories that have entertained young and old for almost a century. The comic industry might be changing, but business is still huge… Comic-Con 2010 was attended by 130,00 people! And the surge of comics-to-blockbuster movie trend thats been happening the past decade is making sure the world of comics continues to be a big part of our modern pop culture.”

Visual.ly Offers Accounts to the Public, My First Twitter Handle Infographic [INFOGRAPHIC]

I love data visualizations, infographics and any other forms of visual representation of cold hard data. Maybe it’s my preference for pictures over words, or that infographics allow me to digest a greater amount of information in a shorter amount of time; either way, they are one of the newest and fastest-growing trends in digital media.

A company I have been waiting for a public beta offering from for a while now is Visual.ly (not to be confused with the resume infographic generating company Vizualize.me) and their offerings of infographics of all different shapes and sizes.

In their own words “Infographics and data visualizations are shifting the way people find and experience stories, creating a new way of seeing the world of data. They help communicate complex ideas in a clear, compact and beautiful way, taking deep data and presenting it in visual shorthand. We’ve collected the best examples on the web and gathered them for you to reference, share, and enjoy.”

Below is my first ever infographic created using Visual.ly based on my Twitter handle. I look forward to creating and implementing many more in the very near future.
